UNDERSTANDING RADIATION IMPACT THROUGH AUTOMATIC AIR MOISTURE SAMPLE COLLECTOR

Tritium is one of the important radionuclide that is being monitored regularly at Nuclear Power Plant sites. Tritium in air is estimated by collection of air moisture and analysis using Liquid Scintillation Analyser. This indigenous technology automatically collects air moisture using thermo-electric cooling principle of Peltier effect. 

Through a technology transfer agreement between Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and MechMatics, we are proud to have installed such machine at all NPCIL sites in India.

 THE 3-in-1 WATER CONSERVATION DEVICE

The Solar Water Team is attempting to build portable device running on sun energy that can generate water from Air moisture as well as act as Sewage Treatment and Desalination unit. Strange but True!!

The prototype system has every possible sensors and controller to collect data. Optimised product will come out in near future based on this data point mapping.

ENHANCING THE PERFORMANCE OF HEAT SINKS 

We are extending manufacturing support to  investigator who have patented their design. The new Double-layered Micro-channel Heat Sinks geometry will help in improving cooling efficiency of microelectronic mechanical systems. Our manufactured product has gone through tough examination under electron microscope to verify the tolerances.

 

Further we shall help in designing flow channels and data logging instrumentation for observation of various parameters such as temperature, pressure and flow profiles

LONG CHANNEL ; MULTI PIPE TWO PHASE FLOW SETUP

Experimental setup for investigations on intermittent type two-phase gas-liquid flow through pipes. Such flow exists in variety of applications including crude oil industries, atomic power plants, chemical process plants, geothermal energy systems, and desalination plants. In long distance pipelines which carries two phase such as natural gas and oil, air-water mixture in form of steam, presence of such intermittent flow can cause material degradation or wall thinning due to erosion-corrosion in piping systems. 

Two-phase flow setup comprises of overall length of around 20 mtrs with three different pipe diameters, Water and air flow loop, SCADA system, High speed flow visualization camera, Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) and Hot-Film Anemometry system with automated traverse, Pressure measurement system including high response pressure transducers.

Pool

POOL BOILING INVESTIGATIONS ON REFRIGERANTS

Boiling and condensation processes in the transfer of heat from a hot to a colder region in numerous applications, e.g. power generation, refrigeration, refining, heat transmission, etc.


Three distinctive modes of pool boiling occur: convective, nucleate and the potentially dangerous film boiling. Researchers study boiling mode characteristics to better design, operate or service any heat transfer process.

The rig is custom build with full instrumentation to monitor Pressure, temperatures, flow and power. The visualisation section allows greater linkages between theoritcal and practical aspects of critical flux.

Wind

MOU FOR SHARING WIND TESTING FACITLITY

Wind Tunnel has numerous application apart from academic interests. At very basic it is a wind generation source on lab scale. The test section at the center of tunnel serves as scale down environment for real world wind conditions.

Primary industrial applications include:-
1) Wind load tests on Building models
2) Drag Forces acting on structures such as high mast poles
3) Flow visualization in Automobiles
4) Improvement of Aerodynamics in sports such as cycling

We signed MOU with Silveroak University which has our manufactured Wind tunnel facility. During spare non-teaching times for it can be used for external industrial testing. This is  prime example of Industry-Academic Partnership
